We were there at 11 and they were continuously making them.
They only make delicious bagels.
Hey Susana (I don't work for st viateur) but I can take an educated guess and say probably not. Montreal bagels, although my favourite, tend to become stale quite quickly and probably wouldn't last the journey. You can probably call them directly for an answer though.
(Translated by Google) Not. (Original) Non.
Yes, they also have hummus and some other dips
Hey, they do ship them to the states actually (for the exception of Alaska and Hawaii i believe). So you might just be in luck!! Choose USA when you get to their online bakery page http://www.stviateurbagel.com/online-bakery

In essence, none of them are since they are all dipped in honey water both for taste and for moisture inside of the bagel. Besides that, you can consider all their other ingredients vegan-friendly.

No, but there are exceptions. All bagels are made from a basic dough of flour, yeast, salt and a sweetener such as malt syrup or honey. Egg bagels have one obvious difference: Whole eggs or egg yolks are added to the dough.
Cheap and fresh bagels by the bagload. No better bagels in the world.
Good bagel shop. However, I watched video on Youtube about this and it was bolstered way more. Just a regular small bagel store where you walk in and order from the menu and some one hands you the bagels and you don't get to pick them out. You tell someone what bagels you want and they give them to you. Also the bagels have a unique Montreal taste and there is a fridge where you can buy things to go with your bagel(s) as well as drink I believe. Also, you can't pay by card and its a cash only place. Not sure about other locations and how they accept payments. I would go here again. Also, kinda hard to get here by bus so I would recommend driving.
I buy these regularly in NS, and am grateful I can. Have never been to the bakery, but, seriously, Philadelphia cream cheese?!?!? Are you kidding me? That's frankly insulting. Have you not heard of Western? It's only about 1,000 times better.
Best bagels ever! We purchased a few dozen and brought them on the plane back to Vancouver to enjoy!
The best bagels you will ever have!Wood fired oven too!If you are exploring Montreal, this place is an amazing experience! You will buy a bag of bagels and start eating one before you get to your car. Later, you will return to buy more!
Iconic Montreal bagel spot. I understand a fresh shipment goes every morning to NYC. If you like bagels, don't miss this one!
There is nothing like it anywhere.I discovered it 35 years ago.It is the best bagel from all the ones I ate and still try when forced. The original one on Saint-Viateur is the best.Anybody who visits me from abroad gets to visit the place with me.It was open by a Jewish immigrant from Eastern Europe. I can still see the owner, G_d bless his sole, sitting on bags of flour at the entrance smiling at customers.Hopefully it will never change.
Fave bagels in the world!!! The creators of the montreal style bagels that far surpass the New York style bagels in my opinion. Always warm and delicious, straight out of the oven. No place to sit here but grab a couple and sit outside on one of the many benches. Absolutely must-stop for locals and visitors alike. The sesame bagel is the best and they sell butter and cream cheese and dips if you’d like to eat them right away. They have a brunch sit-down location as well about 2km away.
Great for fresh hot bagels...quick service and great tasting bagels❤👍👌
Very high quality bagels and taste and quick service. Probably too quick because they didn’t give us our proper order and not the correct change. Ended up taking an extra 10$ from us (realized when we drove away and checked out change). Can’t really come back in and say “hey you miss-changed we can we have $10” when you only do cash.
Has good has the reputation! Would TOTALLY recommend. WOW!
I hadn't had a Montreal Bagel in 22 years, so I decided to place an order for 4 dozen on Goldbelly delivered to South Florida. It takes a month from start to finish but the wait is worth it and the price is a great value imo. They came in nice packaging and taste amazing of course. I gave a dozen to a couple of friends, one who is originally from Montreal. Needless to say that was a good move spreading the joy!
THE bagel place in Montreal! Walking into this place is gluten heaven! There is no seating inside but they sell spreads and the locals eat them as they walk around town. The bagels are always fresh and hot and their staff is always lovely. I bring anyone who visits Montreal here and they’re open 24h/7 so I stop by before my morning shifts at work.
Pretty solid bagels. Ordered the original and raisin, both were tasty but the raisin was my favorite of the two. Cream cheese was also available for purchase. I went around 10am on a weekday and there wasn't much of a line at all. Nowhere to sit and eat, but I did find a nice cafe down the street to enjoy along with a coffee.
Best bagels in the city, hands down! Just remember to put them in plastic bags the minute you get home, otherwise they get hard :)
I was super excited to come here because of the great reviews. I don’t know if my expectations were too high coming from NY and knowing the taste of a real water bagel. I guess the reviewers have never had a Brooklyn or Manhattan bagel but this one had no flavor.
This is the one and only place to get the best authentic bagels in North America! Forget the rest, because this is it. You can't get better!! Enjoy ...
Famous delicious bagels. They only take cash though.
This is my favourite of the bagel spots in Montreal. The staff is friendly and efficient. There's a line but it moves quickly and people are just in and out. They offer some merch and some spreads etc to add to your bagels, but they're mostly just pumping out their classics! They're cash only, so be prepared for this.
I love their rosemary and all dressed bagels. They always try to give their customers fresh out the oven bagels!
Best bagels I've had. Came here because of the show "Somebody Feed Phil" and it did not disappoint! Will definitely be coming back next time I visit Montreal.
Their all dressed bagels were very flavorful! Were they better than NY bagels? May be?! Or May be not?! But for sure they were different and worth a try if you are in the city.PS: You should also try the other bagel place.
Good bagel place. Price is fine, taste is good, but does not accept cards during a global deadly pandemic. That is unacceptable.
Good MTL bagels. Get them fresh out of the oven.
I love Montreal bagels! Crispier on the outside and not as spongy as NYC. This is a bakery so you need to cut and prepare the bagels yourself. We bought a knife/spreader for $cad5 which was necessary to slice and spread the cream cheese we bought in the store, but also a great souvenir! No American salmon spread, the chopped salmon spread did not taste like salmon, get the package of whole slices of lox. Pickles we're delicious! They also have 5 other bakeries even one down the road from the original so check out the lines and what versions they have at each.
Best bagels to have in Montreal. Bagels are made by hand and cooked in wood burning oven on site. There are not frozen bagels made in electric ovens. Freshness of the food speaks for it self. Butter and cream cheese is also available for purchase.
A must visit when in Montreal. Truly authentic Montreal style bagels. Very fast paced environment, cash only. Can be very busy but the lines move fast. Bagels are always hot, fresh and delicious. I can't wait to return!
This is a true Montreal institution. The bagels are delicious and service is quick. Note: this is a cash only place buy they also have an ATM ($2.99/ transaction).
Definitely the best bagels in Montreal. A large selection of flavors at very affordable prices. Bagels prepared fresh. You can even see the preparing process. One of the best bagel experiences in my life 😋😋
Cash only! Cash only! Cash only! Before u come, pls prepare cash although there is a ATM machine at this store. BTW, there is a COBC ATM machine just 10 minutes walk from this bagel store. I don’t remember how long I am waiting for.... maybe 30 minutes. My friend bought 48 bagels. She said bagels r really good!
No hassle delivery, and website is extremely easy to navigate. I was excited to see additional flavour options have been added to the delivery menu. As a former Montrealer now living in Ontario, nothing makes me feel closer to home than eating a freshly delivered sesame bagel! If you are in the neighbourhood, it is worth dropping into the store though to get the full experience.
Fairmount vs saint Viateur. for me or always depends what I want. if I want a hot bagel that's fresher Saint Viateur is the Choice for me. had a hot Sesame bagel after a night of walking and it really hit the spot. crispy outside, soft inside, was in heaven and I didn't even add butter. The wood burning taste is great. I've been to new York to Essa bagel. it's overrated there. Saint Viateur thumbs up
Honestly, I was scared to try Smoked Salmon, and this was my first time. I was repeatedly insisted by my brother to try it when I go back to Montreal. You decide your bagel which comes with smoked meat, cream cheese, onion and capers. My heart skipped a beat and I fell in love at the first bite. I can't believe this Smokey baby has been missing from my life all along. The bagels were so fresh, not the weird chewy ones you find in Toronto but actual soft and fresh ones. They serve the bagels with a side so ends up being a big portion!
When I was in Montreal over 20 years ago, this place left the biggest impression on me. Warm bagels right out of the oven, the amazing smells and the sight of mountains of bagels. When I revisited just recently, I was just as excited. It’s a great experience, and having a toasted bagel and cream cheese the next morning was such a great treat. You haven’t had a bagel until you try one of these.
These wonderful tasty bagels are just as I remembered them when I visited your shop way back in 2005. This Texan gives you two huge thumbs way way up!Sincere thanks for the speedy shipment.
Was in Montreal for New Years and woke up on the first day of 2020 craving a fresh bagel.Have had all types of bagels from around the world. These were some of the most TASTY, FRESH, and FULLFILLING BAGELS EVER.On a side note, being from the USA I was expecting to be able to order a fresh made bagel sandwich and this was not the case. Rather, you buy individual ingredients and make them on your own time. I got their lox spread brand and it was great.Probably the most expensive dozen bagels I’ve ever bought but still very yummy. No US money accepted, will come back again anyways.
St viateur bagel shop is one of the most visited places in Montreal. Their bagels are crunchy and delicious. They do not accept cards so carry cash with you.
I'll be perfectly honest, although every guide book and person suggested this place as one of the best bagels on Earth, I found them a little underwhelming. We probably bought about four or five different types and they were all quite hard and not very doughy or soft. It might just be an issue of expectations, but they weren't exactly my style. I would still suggest a visit as its a Montreal staple and the vibe inside the shop is pretty cool, you get to see the traditional and classic method of how they cook the bagels.
i'm sure the ones at the shop are great. i get them at metro as i live in Ontario. They are dry very hard to cut without breaking them and basically taste like a rice cake, if you know what i mean; FLAVOURLESSwill not be buying them again.
Great bagels! A bit expensive but well worth the price. The only thing I didn't like was that the place is quite small so it's better to get a bagel (or a few) on the go. I love the Mont-Royal location as you can sit and relax and it has a great atmosphere.
Best bagel I have ever had, by far. The bagels are made by hand and cooked in a wood fired oven. The are not nearly as dense as a New York bagel and have a much better flavor. I had the poppy seed bagel and it was outstanding. But I don't think you can go wrong. I am sure all the bagels are fantastic. The icing on the cake is that the prices are very reasonable.
Best bagel ever. The line could be long but you will not spend a lot of time waiting and the bagels are delicious. You can see the process of how are made and they sell handcrafted cheese to enjoy your bagels. Important detail they just take cash but there is an ATM inside
Soft doughy texture.Made traditionally. This is an amazing bagel. Not to be compared to the bagels in New York as these are unsalted. Do pair it with something to bring out the full glory of this decadent bagel.
Bagel Central! This is the place for bagels. There are many varieties so you can pretty much satisfy your bagel desires. There are also several items for putting on them.If you live in Montreal you are probably a repeat customer, if this is your 1st time you'll be back soon.
There is nothing I can say that will describe the perfection of the Viateur bagel. If you have a passion for bagels and have yet to sink your teeth into one of these little wheels of flavor that have been crafted with passion and purpose for many, many years, do yourself a favor and make the pilgrimage to Montreal if only for these bagels! Always fresh and priced wonderfully. A+ institution.
